Trapped by promises

Back in and around the period of the WWI, my grandfather decided to co-sign on his best friend’s loan.  His collateral was his vineyard which was in the family since the early 1500’s.  The load went bad and my grandfather lost his farm.

Have you promised to be responsible for someone else’s debts?  Are you the rescuing type?  It still happens today.  A good friend of mine went and took $30,000 of his private investments to give to a woman dying of cancer. She wanted to get special treatment.  She died three weeks later with no chance of repaying.  My friends knew his wife would go crazy since he did not ask her permission.  Thought he could slip this one under the door.  Not a good scene.

If you have been caught by your own words, trapped by your own promises – then you know what it is like to be in the other person’s power.  There is only one way to get out – beg them to release you – do whatever you can because you are not going to be able to sleep or rest until you do.  Lots of things you should have done and shouldn’t have done but it does not matter – now, get released from a promise you cannot keep and be set free.
